Khalid Mahmood, University of Education, Jauharabad Campus | MS | GamifyRP: A Gamified Approach to Prioritize Software Requirements Requirement prioritization (RP) is a significant activity of Requirement Engineering (RE), during software development. By prioritizing the most fundamental user needs and removing the extraneous ones, RP lowers the chances of failure during software development. This also allows for timely and cost-effective implementation of user goals and needs. RP system is greatly impacted by this procedure, which strikes a balance between client expectations and project limitations like time and money. RP is difficult despite its significance because of things like stakeholder expectations, risk, expense, complexity, and requirementchanges. User participation is significant because stakeholder consensus reduces the likelihood of requirements conflicts and, thus reducing the chances of failure. There are existing RP techniques yet there is a room to enhance the effectiveness of requirements prioritization by managing the preferences of users regarding requirements. However, due to scope limitation of the study, we will work on one interesting PR technique 100 points. In 100-Point criteria, the prioritization process enables stakeholders to assign 100 points to different project requirements according to their significance. This approach helps to prioritize requirements by ensuring that stakeholder preferences are recorded objectively. By providing each stakeholder with an active part in the decision-making process, enabling them to impact the outcome, and promoting increased involvement, it increases user engagement. The method increases stakeholder commitment to the project by encouraging openness and cooperation, yet requires stakeholder involvement in the process. Over the period of time, stakeholder involvement has become important for understanding of the system. There are several techniques used in RE that requires stakeholders involvement. Gamification is a technique used to improve user engagement and motivation in non-gaming environments. It introduces game elements such as leaderboards, badges, and points etc. to motivate users in performing some activity, collaboration, training, or learning. Gamification is one inclusive strategy that can be employed for stakeholder participation in RE. During requirements elicitation process, gamification tends to solve problems related to human engagements by encouraging desired behaviors and actions. In this work, we will develop web-based gamified system for requirements prioritization by involving stakeholders in the process. During this activity, Gamification technique will be used not only to engage stakeholders but also increase their motivation to perform the activity by awarding them with points, badges, etc. on the basis of assigned requirements. | 2025 |
