Objective

The major objectives of the program are to develop comprehensive understanding of relationship between people, buildings and their environment, and the need to relate buildings and the spaces between them to human needs and scales considering socio-cultural, psychological environmental and technological aspects. Adequate knowledge of history and theories of architecture and the related arts, technologies and human sciences, together with understanding of the structural design, construction and engineering problems, associated with building design.

The five year degree program has three stages; Foundation, Intermediate and Final. First year foundation introduces the students to the common basis of art, design and architecture, while also incorporating visual, graphical and oral skills. The intermediate stage has two years (2nd and 3rd) devoted to introduce the students to basics of architecture, enhancing design skills with critical and innovative thinking. The final stage at fourth and fifth year is devoted to deepen the perception of architecture as an activity in space and time within a given physical, socio-cultural and historical context. Fifth year is dedicated to broaden the exposure of the profession of architecture by creating awareness about the challenges of the architectural practice, and various contemporary issues of social and built environment are discussed.

Eligibility

Intermediate Examination (FA / F.Sc / DAE or equivalent) with minimum 45 % marks.

Weightage for admission

Matriculation Marks = 10 %

Intermediate Marks = 30 %

Admission Test = 40 %

Interview = 20 %

Architectural Heritage of Pakistan

Significance: Pakistan has a rich history and culture. It also has variety of geographical and climatic regions where local people have evolved variety of solutions to suit their requirements. These unique experiences have not been documented so far in the scholarship. The purpose of research is to develop a basic guideline upon which further work may be carried out taking help from modern technological advancements. In addition department is also documenting latest project which are being designed in the recent years.
