Research Projects
Non-Income Determinants of Human Development in Pakistan
It is important to know non income determinants of access to education and health. Pakistani society is facing high level of deprivation in access to health, education, better land to live, drinking water and proper sanitation facilities. There are many non-income factors those may determine level of human development. So the focus of this project was to investigate those non-income factors which are affecting access to education and health in case of Pakistan. Non-income factors have covered socio-cultural, political, institutional, religious, geographic, gender, infrastructural, and regional factors along with their sub factors.
An Assessment of Skill Gap Among University Graduates for Employability and Performance in Industries Situated in Gujrat- Sialkot - Gujranwala Industrial Cluster
The purpose of this study was to find three types of gaps: skill gap, perception gap and employability gap based on surveys conducted among 100 industrial employers and 151 final year students from 6 universities and postgraduate colleges in the Gujrat-Sialkot-Gujranwala industrial cluster. Employers on average were found not entirely satisfied with the performance of fresh graduates. Students were not entirely satisfied with the curricula and teaching methodologies followed in higher educational institutions. To overcome missing industry-university-policy making linkage in Pakistan, we recommended suggestions.
Impact Of Foreign Remittances On Households Poverty In Pakistan: Evidence From Micro Data
This primary objective of the research project was to evaluate the impact of foreign remittances on household incomes and poverty using household data in Pakistan. In this project, the effect of receiving remittances on the probability of being in a situation of poverty was estimated through three alternative methods. The impact assessment results concluded that keeping other factors constant, remittances increase the per capita income and reduce the poverty of the households not only at overall level but also the households from the rural and urban areas separately.
