Dr. Tahir Iqbal Awan is working as Associate Professor (BPS-20)-Department of Physics, University of Gujrat, Gujrat since October 14, 2022. He had served as Head of the Physics Department from October 01, 2015 to February 2018 and additional responsibility as Director Sustainability (Dec 2023-Feb 2025), Previously he served as Director Students Affairs (Sep-Oct.2024), He also served as Director Purchase-University of Gujrat from March 22, 2019 to May 15, 2020. Earlier he served as Director of Human Resource Development Center from February 01, 2018 to March 22, 2019. He was graduated from University of the Punjab and received his M.Phil degree from Quaid-I-Azam University Islamabad. He received his MSc and PhD in the area of Nanoplasmonics-Nanotechnology, from Queen's University Belfast (QUB), United Kingdom (UK) in 2013. It is worth mentioning that he earned DEL/EPSRC scholarship from UK Government of worth more than 15 Millions Pak rupees for his MS & PhD study. He was awarded '1st poster prize-certificate with 500C$' in May 2013 by Nanophotonic Journal in 6th International Conference on Surface plasmon Photonics held in Ottowa, Canada. He completed his PhD degree in record time i.e. less than 3 years in QUB-UK. He got distinction in MSc degree from QUB in 2010. He is authors of Twenty three (23) books/Chapters published nationally and internationally including 01 Book Published with Elsevier, 01 with Taylor & Francis, and )2 with Springer Publishing, as 1st author.. He is also author of more than two hundred (200) research article published in well reputed international journals with Impact factor of more than 700. He was awarded Best University Teacher Award (BUTA) in 2020 as per HEC revised frame work. He produced 07 PhD and 55 M.Phil as research supervisor and presently supervising 12 research student. He has been included in Top 2% of the most-cited scientists of the global list (for citation impact during the single calendar year 2019, to 2023) compiled by the prestigious US-based Stanford University. He is member of various professional societies including IEEE Magnetic Society, IEEE Communications Society, Pakistan Institute of Physics (PIP) and Pakistan Physical Society (PPS). He attended various International conferences and workshops. He delivered 37 invited talks in national and international forums. In 1999, as professional Career, he joined as Science Teacher in Private School situated in Rawalpindi. He had been working in Private College as well. Then, in April 23, 2005, he joined Lecturer (BPS-17) in Govt, Inter College Kallar Seyedan and then he served in Govt Gordon College, Rawalpindi for more than 2 years and awarded best teacher award in 2006. He had been serving as Deputy Warden in Gordon College and was awarded as 'Award of Excellence' in 2007. He joined University of Gujrat in August 01, 2007. He was the pioneer head of the Physics department at the University of Gujrat. He contributed significantly for establishing undergraduate teaching and research lab. He organized various trainings and conference in UOG. He was also resource person for various professional trainings conducted in collaboration with HEC. He has been working as Chairperson, member and secretary of various committees in the UoG and other Universities. Lastly, he is also pioneer in Pakistan in the field of Nanoplasmonics-Nanotechnology and established COMSOL modelling lab where PhD and M.Phil students are conducting their research work. He initiated various Memorandum of understandings (MOU) with various national and international research organizations. He also initiated PhD Program in Physics in Fall 2015, in the Department of Physics, UoG as Head of the Department. He believe in dedication, hard work and sincerity.
