KHADIJAH NASEER | BS | Social Incivility Among University Students: The Role of Social Media Distraction and Techno-Stress The transition to university life represents a crucial period in a student’s academic journey, marked by various challenges related to social integration and emotional well-being. The study explains the intricate relationship between social incivility, techno-stress, and the social media distraction of university students. This study aims to investigate how social incivility is influenced by social media distraction and techno-stress among university students. The research used quantitative analysis and the survey method was used to gather comprehensive information about study variables among university students. The study was conducted with reference to four theoretical frameworks. Social strain theory, moral disengagement theory, self-determinant theory, and cognitive load theory. The total sample size of 343 university students that were developed by using the formula of taro Yamani. A structured questionnaire was used as a tool of data collection for the present study. Pearson’s correlation and regression were used for the analysis of data. The findings reveal a strong relationship between the availability of social media distraction, techno-stress, and the social incivility of university students. The regression model also significantly predicted the relationship between the independent and dependent variables. The study suggested that individual and institutional interventions, promoting healthy technology use, stress management, and positive social interactions reduce the social incivility and techno-stress among university students. The research findings help create focused interventions and support systems that will improve student’s general well-being and aid their effective adjustment to university life. | 2024 |
