Jamshaid Ali (REGISTRATION # 17030540124) | MS | GREEN SYNTHESIS OF METAL OXIDE NANOCOMPOSITES USING ZINGIBER OFFICINALE & CARICA PAPAYA AND THEIR BIOLOGICAL APPLICATIONS MO-NPs, or metal oxide nanoparticles, are made by a variety of physical, chemical, and biological techniques. In this work, green synthesis was used to create cobalt oxide and chromium oxide nanoparticles. Using fruit extract from the Carica papaya and Zingiber officinale plants, chromium oxide and cobalt oxide nanoparticles have been prepared. The fruit extract of both plants was prepared, and at varying temperatures and stirring rates, salt solutions containing Cr(NO3)3.9H2O and CoCl2.6H2O were added to it in order to synthesize these nanoparticles. FTIR and biological methods were used to characterize the produced Cr and Co metal oxide nanoparticles. Lastly, the antimicrobial and antioxidant qualities of these nanoparticles were assessed. Using the Disc diffusion method, the antimicrobial properties of these NPs were tested against various strains of bacteria and fungi. All of these nanoparticles demonstrated strong antibacterial and antifungal activities, according to the results. Additionally, using the BHT (Butylated hydroxytoluene) assay, they demonstrated the exceptional antioxidant qualities. | 2024 |
Zanib (REGISTRATION # 17001207144) | MS | PLANT MEDIATED GREEN SYNTHESIS OF METAL OXIDE NANOPARTICLES USING SOLANUM LYCOPERCICUM AND SOLANUM TUBEROSUM AND THEIR APPLICATIONS Among nanomaterials, the metal oxide nanoparticles MONPs have significant application in several fields like catalysis, drug delivery, environmental remediation, agriculture, medicine and sensors etc. Due to their potential usage in various fields, different synthetic routes have developed but the plant mediated green synthesis route is biocompatible, economical, minimize waste, safe, ecofriendly and less toxic method then other hazardous chemical-based methodologies. In this present research manganese oxide nanoparticles (Mn3O4 NPs) were synthesized by green synthesis based on phytochemicals of Solanum lycopersicum (tomatoes) and Solanum tuberosum (potatoes) which act as capping, reducing and stabilizing agents. The synthesized Mn3O4 NPs were characterized by using XRD, FTIR, and SEM for the determination of size, morphology and other properties. The synthesized Mn3O4 NPs exhibited excellent antibacterial activity against gram positive and gram negative bacteria such as Bacillus halodurans, Micrococcus luteus, Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. These NPs also showed good antifungal activity against two fungal strains Aspergillus niger and Aspergillus flavus. Furthermore, the NPs antioxidant activity was also evaluated by using DPPH assay and they showed excellent antioxidant activity. | 2023 |
Khadija Mubeen (REGISTRATION # 16020207093) | MS | PREPARATION AND APPLICATIONS OF METAL OXIDE NANOPARTICLES VIA GREEN SYNTHESIS USING PSIDIUM GUAJAVA AND PRUNUS PERSICA Metal Oxide Nanoparticles (MO-NPs) are prepared using numerous physical, chemical, and biological methods. In this study, manganese oxide and cobalt oxide nanoparticles were prepared via green synthesis. Manganese oxide NPs were prepared using the fruit pulp, fruit peel, and leaves of the Psidium guajava plant, and to prepare the cobalt oxide NPs, Prunus persica leaves, fruit pulp, and fruit peel were utilized. For synthesizing these nanoparticles, the extracts of fruit pulp, fruit peel, and leaves of both plants were prepared and treated with MnCl2.4H2O and CoCl2.6H2O salt solutions at different temperatures and stirring rates. The prepared Mn and Co metal oxide NPs were characterized by using the FTIR, XRD, and SEM techniques. Finally, these nanoparticles were evaluated for their antimicrobial and antioxidant properties. The antimicrobial properties of these NPs were carried out against different bacterial and fungal strains using the Disc diffusion method. The results showed that all these nanoparticles exhibited good antibacterial and antifungal properties. They have also shown the remarkable antioxidant properties assessed by adopting DPPH radical assay. | 2023 |
