Humayun Ashraf is a geospatial expert and academic with extensive experience in Geography and GIS. Born and raised in Sargodha, he completed his early education there before earning a Master’s degree in Geography and GIS from Punjab University, Lahore. He began his professional career at The Urban Unit, where he worked on various World Bank, Asian Development Bank, and USAID-funded projects across multiple cities in Punjab. His work involved urban planning, spatial analysis, and policy development, contributing to data-driven decision-making for sustainable urban development. Currently, Humayun Ashraf serves as a lecturer at the University of Gujrat, where he shares his expertise in geography, GIS, and urban studies. Through his academic and research endeavors, he aims to advance geospatial applications in urban development and contribute to the field of sustainable urban planning.
My research interests lie at the intersection of urban geography, GIS, remote sensing, and population studies. I am particularly interested in utilizing geospatial technologies to analyze urban expansion, population dynamics, and land-use changes, along with their environmental and socio-economic impacts. My focus includes applying remote sensing techniques for urban growth modeling, spatial analysis of infrastructure development, and assessing the sustainability of urbanization patterns. Additionally, I aim to study population distribution, density changes, and migration trends to better understand their relationship with urban development. Through my research, I strive to contribute to data-driven urban planning and policy-making for more resilient and sustainable cities.
