I have completed my M.Phil in Sociology (specialization in Gender Studies, Sociology of Health and Medicine, Demography). I have more than ten years of experience in teaching/ research in the field of Sociology. Currently, I am working as Associate Lecturer in Department of Sociology at University of Gujrat. I have published research articles in the area of my specialization and also supervised thesis at BS and Masters level.

Jusheela Shabbir BS Demographic, Social and Psychological Correlates of Health Literacy among University Students  Health Literacy illustrates the awareness of people about their health. This is connected with the health literacy that involves individual’s information and inspiration wanted to make suitable health decisions. It is the ability towards drawing facts and figures, realizing, evaluating and applying heath related data to improve health status. Myriad of demographic, social and psychological factors determine the health literacy and quality of life among university students. The aim of current study is to investigate the relationship of demographic (gender, age, family system, father’s occupation, mother’s occupation, monthly family income), social (social values like social interaction and social relations) and psychological values (recognition of depression and fear of meager health) with health literacy (obtaining health related information, understanding health standards and practicing health related information) and quality of life (satisfaction about health status, personal development and quality of environment) among university students. The target population of this current study was the student of university of Gujrat. Quantitative research design was used for present study. A survey method was used in the study for the purpose of data collection from youth of university of Gujrat. Taro Yamani formula was used to determine the sample size and the sample was selected through Convenience sampling technique. The sample was based on 188 students from two randomly selected faculties (faculty of sciences and social sciences). Pearson Correlation, simple linear regression and Chi-Square were used for the purpose of data analysis. The data were analyzed by using statistical package of social sciences (SPSS-Version). The study concluded that everyone should have information about health. On the basis of the results of present study it was recommended that whether it’s a boy or girl everyone should be more aware of their health. 2022
Tahira Yasmeen BS Helicopter Parenting, Social Belongingness and Psychological Health among University Students  Helicopter parenting is one of the socio-psychological issues that affect the growth of the children’s. Parents nurture their children to protect them for their physical and emotional safety. A parent has fear about their future which leads to over participation in their life. The aim of current study is to investigate the relationship between helicopter parenting (extreme responsiveness, demands of child success, fear about child future, and the being over protective), social belongingness (relationship with parents, social-acceptance, and association with peer) and psychological health (emotional well-being, learning abilities, frustration of restrictions, and self-acceptance) among youth. Different socio-demographic factors that affect the helicopter parenting like (gender, age, family type, residential area, father’s education, father occupation, mother’s education, and monthly income). The target population of this current study was the undergraduate students of University of Gujrat. Quantitative research design was used for present study. An interview survey method was used in this current study for the purpose of data collection from youth of the University of Gujrat. Taro Yamane formula was used to determine the sample size. The sample was based on 193 students of faculty of basic sciences, social sciences. Pearson correlation and simple linear regression were used for the purpose of data analysis. The data were analyzed by using Statistical Package of Social Sciences (SPSS-version). Nida Ashraf BS Effects of socio economic strains on emotional intelligence and coping strategies of parents of Thalassemia patients  Thalassemia is a severe public health predicament, especially in developing countries. Parents of thalassemia patients continue to bear the socio-economic strains in the process of daily and life time care. The socio economic strains prove hurdle in the care management and treating of thalassemia patients. This disease also causes emotional and psychological distress in the parents of sick children. This research throws light on the socio economic strains and their effects on emotional intelligence and coping strategies of parents of thalassemia patients. This research study has been limited and conducted in Sundas foundation Gujrat where (142) thalassemia patients were chosen as sample for the study. A well-structured questionnaire was developed and used for purposeful data collection. The sample was based on 142 parents of thalassemia patients. The simple random sampling techniques were used for sample collection in this research. Pearson’s correlation and simple linear regression techniques were used for data analysis. This data was interpreted and analyzed through SPSS (statistical package for social sciences) version21. The results of the study showed that social strains and economic strains had positive and significant relation with emotional intelligence and coping strategies. The relationship has proven significant as depicted by the values of Pearson’s correlation and regression coefficient revealed that all the social and economic strains was positively affecting the emotional intelligence and coping strategies. Descriptive analysis of socio economic strains depicted that there was a significant relation between socio-economic strains and emotional intelligence and coping strategies of parents of thalassemia patients. Result shows that many parents of such children are forced to experience very poor quality of life. This study also suggests some practical measures regarding the solution of this severe problem. The research also suggests a larger scale study and research for more clear effective and fruitful results to solve this situation and problem. This study suggested that this research should be conducted through quantitative research design which will explain the relationship of independent and dependent variable in depth. 2021
