I am pleased to provide a thorough statement detailing my academic and professional background and experience, including academic and research interests with activities undertaken in academic positions (research, teaching, publishing, etc.). I received my primary education from Govt. primary School, 116 J.B Faisalabad Pakistan, where Urdu was the medium of education. I completed my matriculation from the nearby High School of village 115/J.B. Later on I got admission to Govt. College Faisalabad now Govt. College University Faisalabad and completed my intermediate in pre-medical and graduation (B.Sc) in Chemistry, Zoology and Botany combination. I earned my Master's in Chemistry (M.Sc) from the University of Punjab Lahore. I worked during my M.Sc research work at Nuclear Institute for Agriculture and Biology (NIAB), Faisalabad on soil carbohydrates dynamics. My research work was accomplished by using a flame photometer, UV-VIS spectrometer and X-ray diffraction analysis which was later published in the Journal of Soil Science and Plant Nutrition, with the title “Effect of green and farmyard manure on carbohydrates dynamics of salt-affected soil” I have worked in the chemical industry, school education and textile sector for about six years, before applying for HEC scholarship for doctoral studies. The selection process was a rigorous process starting from a GRE-based test. After being short-listed by HEC for the indigenous 5000 fellowships batch-3 scheme, I got my admission to the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, University of Agriculture, Faisalabad under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Farooq Anwar. I obtained my doctoral degree in analytical chemistry from the Department of Chemistry University of Agriculture Faisalabad; Pakistan. The research title of my dissertation was “Characterization of selected varieties of rice (Oryza sativa) and its by-product rice bran for valuable nutrients and antioxidants. I excel in both teaching and research supervision, specializing in analytical chemistry at various academic levels, including Basic (BS(Hons)) and Higher (M.Phil/MS and PhD). My primary research focus lies in the analysis of food and environmental samples, particularly in exploring food compositions and detecting emerging environmental contaminants in soil and water. I obtained my doctoral degree in analytical chemistry from the University of Agriculture in Faisalabad, Pakistan, in 2012. My dissertation, titled "Characterization of selected varieties of rice (Oryza sativa) and its by-product rice bran for valuable nutrients and antioxidants," showcased my expertise in extracting and characterizing rice cereal grain varieties. I utilized cutting-edge analytical techniques such as HPLC, GC, GC-MS, and ICP-OES, following established protocols and methodologies. Equipped with advanced training in HPLC and GC-MS instruments, I am confident in applying analytical methodologies for food and environmental (soil and water) analysis. Collaborating with both national and international researchers, I have contributed significantly to the field, resulting in numerous research publications and book chapters in esteemed international peer-reviewed journals and renowned publishers. Notably, my publications boast an impressive impact factor exceeding 200, with over 2500 citations with an H-Index of 28. In addition to my research accomplishments, I actively supervise PhD and M.Phil students in analytical chemistry. My supervision aligns with my research priorities, focusing on the analysis of food and environmental samples (soil and water) and promoting sustainability. Looking ahead, my vision involves advancing applied research to benefit the community, leveraging my research capacity, and fostering collaborations with national and international research groups and scientists. I am committed to making meaningful contributions to the field of analytical chemistry and addressing societal challenges through innovative research endeavours.
My research preferences food and environment analysis. Analysis focused on exploring natural food compositions and detecting environmental contaminants of emerging concerns

Waqar Ahmed | Ph.D | Effect of industrial landfill leachates on metal speciation contaminating soil and water of selected regions of Pakistan Solid waste is increasing due to growth in mechanization and population and it has become a worldwide issue. The leachate leaks from solid waste dumping site pollute soil and ground water that effect the health of human beings. Therefore, the aim of the current study is to find the toxic metals (As, Cr, Cu and Mn) and heavy metals (Ba, Cd, Hg and Pb) of landfill leachates which effect the soil and water of Sialkot, Gujranwala and Faisalabad, cities of Punjab, Pakistan. After sampling of selected points, X-Ray Fluorescence analysis was performed to reveal the elemental composition of leachates and soil samples. Following elements As, Cr, Cu, Mn, Ba, Cd, Hg, Pb were selected for the onward Inductively Coupled Plasma - Optical Emission Spectroscopy analysis. CRM (SRM 2709a) of San Joaquin for soil and (SRM 1640a) for water were used to confirm accuracy of the metals like As, Ba, Cd, Cu, Cr, Hg, Mn and Pb from collected samples and results were presented as % recovery.
