Dr. Nadia Zeeshan is a distinguished biochemist and biotechnologist with extensive experience in research, teaching, and academic leadership. She earned his Ph.D. in Biotechnology/Biochemistry from the University of the Punjab in 2010 and Post-Doctoral Fellowship at the National University of Singapore (NUS) (Dec 2023 – Sep 2024). With over 13 years of academic and research experience, Dr. Nadia has been a part of the University of Gujrat since 2010. She has served as an Assistant Professor and later as an Associate Professor since December 2020. Additionally, she has been serving as the Head of the Department and chairperson for over five years, playing a key role in academic leadership and departmental development. Dr. Nadia Zeeshan has successfully supervised 5 PhD scholars and more then 40 M Phil scholars, contributing significantly to the development of young researchers in biochemistry and biotechnology. Her research focuses on therapeutic drug discovery, enzyme production (particularly bacterial proteases for leather industry applications), and recombinant protein expression. She has won four major research grants and has been actively involved in funded projects aimed at advancing biochemical research. As an experienced academic and researcher, Dr. Nadia Zeeshan continues to contribute to scientific advancements through her research, mentoring, and leadership, striving to bridge the gap between fundamental science and industrial applications.

My research focuses on enzyme production, therapeutics, drug discovery particularly the development of recombinant bacterial proteases for the leather industry. I specialize in recombinant protein expression, purification, and optimization using bacterial expression systems to enhance enzyme yield, activity, and stability. In therapeutic research during Post Doc, I work on structure based targeted drug discovery by identifying potential targets for inhibition of key viral enzymes (particularly proteases, contributing to the development of novel antiviral strategies. My expertise includes molecular cloning, site-directed mutagenesis, codon optimization, and expression analysis to improve heterologous protein production. Additionally, I utilize chromatographic purification (FPLC), Nuclear mangetic resosnance (NMR), structural modeling, molecular dynamics simulations, and bioinformatics tools for enzyme engineering and drug-target interaction studies. By integrating biotechnology, bioinformatics, and protein engineering, my goal is to develop efficient biocatalysts for industrial applications and to identify the specific drug targets that contribute to the advancement of therapeutic interventions against infectious diseases.
