Associate Lecturer Faria Shaheen

I have been serving as an Associate Lecturer at the Centre for Languages and Translation Studies since 2014. I hold an MA in English Linguistics and an MPhil in English (Translation Studies), both of which I completed with distinction. My primary research interests focus on the relationship between language, gender, and translation. Over the years, I have been actively involved in academic activities, attending and organizing various workshops, conferences, and seminars. I have published seventeen research articles in HEC-recognized journals, which has allowed me to contribute to the ongoing discourse in my field. I have also had the opportunity to present my research at several national conferences, engaging with scholars from diverse backgrounds. One of my significant academic achievements is the translation of the book Language, Gender and Power: The Politics of Representation and Hegemony in South Asia from English to Urdu. This project was particularly meaningful as it allowed me to contribute to a wider understanding of gender and power dynamics in a South Asian context. Through my work, I aim to inspire students to think critically about language and its societal implications, while encouraging them to explore the broader intersections of linguistics and translation.
My research interests include Language and Gender, Gender and Translation, Transation Studies, and Critical Discourse Analysis
