At least 45% marks in Intermediate or equivalent (Sociology/Psychology/ Education/Economics/Stat/ Philosophy/Pre-Medical) are required to apply.

Objectives

M.Phil Psychology

Eligibility

  • At least sixteen (16) years of education with terminal degree in relevant subject.
  • The candidate shall have at least 45% marks in the annual examination system or 2.5 CGPA in the semester system examination throughout his / her academic career except in Matriculation and Intermediate examinations.
  • Candidate shall have to pass the Departmental Subject Based Written Test (DSBWT) and interview.

Objectives

  • To ensure that the students are aware of the nature, origin, history and scope of Psychology as a modern discipline and its relationship with other sciences.
  • To be familiar with the methods it employs for studying (as it is) and changing behavior (as it should be) and the strengths and weaknesses of these methods.
  • To be aware of the moral and ethical implications of psychological theories, procedures and practices. To ensure that psychology is taught as an applied discipline in scientist-reflective.
  • To be able to conceive, design, and conduct research projects and analyze the information and share it with other students.
  • To develop insight and foster personality growth in students through internship.
  • To inculcate the spirit of applying control over unbridled instinctive and impulsive actions, so that they acquire an integrated personality and behave on their rational judgment.
  • To have a working knowledge of the application and the practice of psychology in real life and have all the necessary skills to continue a specialist study later on and achieve professional distinctions

Objectives

  • Train the students in order to work as professional clinical psychologists in any field related to clinical psychology.
  • Teach them the professional skills of dealing with individual having psychological problems and psychopathologies.
  • Train their professional expertise of clinical assessment, psycho diagnosis and psychotherapeutic intervention with empirical and objective approach.
  • Enable them to deal with ethical and cultural issues in their professional practice.
  • Enable the trainees to provide psychological services at three levels of Clinical Psychology i-e Positive psychology, Preventive Psychology and at Psychotherapeutic level.
  • To enhance the personality functioning and professional attitude of trainees through individualized based training sessions.
  • Enable them to use empirically tested therapeutic approaches with cultural integrative perspectives.
  • To provide clinical services to different range of psychological problems and psychological disorders present in children, adults and special groups in the community.
  • To develop a scientific attitude in order to undertake indigenous research projects in different fields of clinical psychology.

Guidance and Counseling Center

UOG Counseling and Guidance center is functioning under the Department of Psychology in order to support the academic mission of the University through providing better mental health and consultation to UOG students and officials. The goal of UOG Counseling and Guidance center is to provide career counseling services and to enhance the intellectual, emotional, physical and mental health of students. The center is offering its services to a number of students and faculty members from various departments free of cost and in a confidential, healthy and respectful environment. UOG experienced clinical psychologists/counselors are available to help students with any personal, social or emotional problems they may be experiencing.
