Department of Islamic Studies

Mission

To develop the University of Gujrat as the Premier place of learning in Pakistan, to provide with a sound intellectual foundation for the ideological, moral, intellectual, and social development of the Muslim Ummah within the framework of the values and principles of Islam, to highlight and define the relevance of Islam in changing modern times to the whole human life.

Introduction

The University of Gujrat established the Department of Islamic Studies in 2007 by launching BS Islamic Studies, 4 year degree program at Fatima Jinnah College for Women, Fawara Chowk and Government College for Women Marghazar Colony simultaneously. However, the whole BS program was shifted to Govt. College for Women Marghazar Colony in 2010, and it was finally shifted to the Hafiz Hayat Campus in 2011.

The Department of Islamic Studies has initiated its BS Islamic Studies Program in affiliated colleges as well. Government Murray College, Sialkot is one such affiliated college where the BS (Islamic Studies) Program was launched in 2010. The same program was launched in Government Postgraduate College, Chakwal. The Department is also running 2 year MA Islamic Studies at GT Road Campus and MPhil Islamic Studies programs at Hafiz Hayat Campus since fall, 2011.

Chairperson´s Message

I feel proud to work in the department of Islamic Studies, which is expected to be one of the most reputed departments of the University. I believe in research based Islamic Education. My team tries its level best to provide the scholars with quality education keeping in view the changing global situation. Besides the teaching of Islamic Studies (Compulsory) at BS level in various departments of the University and Research at M. Phil level, we offer various short courses to actualize the mission of the department. The faculty is fully committed to the Vision and Mission of UOG. May Allah help us achieve our goals.
