Representation of University of Gujrat for National Teaching Excellence Framework Project of HEC and British Council
The University of Gujrat (UoG) illumined in the prestigious Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) Pakistan Project, a flagship initiative jointly launched by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and the British Council under the Pak-UK Education Gateway programme.
This pioneering project aims to develop a Pakistan-specific Teaching Excellence Framework, inspired by the UK model, to enhance teaching quality, student learning outcomes, and overall institutional performance across the country’s higher education sector.
HEC has constituted a select TEF Faculty and Expert Team to collaborate with UK-based consultants for the framework’s development. Dr. Tahir Iqbal Awan, Associate Professor of Physics at the University of Gujrat, was selected by HEC for this national team, in recognition of his strong academic and professional profile.
The maiden virtual meeting of the TEF Faculty and Expert Team was held on May 29, 2025, bringing together key delegates from universities across Pakistan. During the session, Dr. Tabbi Wilberforce from King’s College London (KCL) provided a comprehensive briefing on the Teaching Excellence Framework, its core components, and the vital role the Pakistani team will play during the next phase of the project. He also outlined expectations for the upcoming collaborative visit to the UK.
The second meeting of the TEF Faculty and Expert Team is scheduled to take place at King’s College London (KCL), United Kingdom, from June 15 to 22, 2025, where team members will engage in extensive consultations, training sessions, and framework co-development activities alongside UK experts.
The University of Gujrat takes pride in contributing to this national initiative that aims to raise the bar for teaching excellence and bring Pakistan’s higher education institutions in line with global standards. UoG remains committed to academic innovation, quality enhancement, and international engagement in higher education development.
