Admission Requirement
- Candidates shall possess at least sixteen years of education (MA / MSc / BS-4 year degree) OR its equivalent qualification in the relevant subject.
- The candidate shall have at least 45 % marks in the annual examination system or 2.50 CGPA (with at least 65% marks) in the semester system examination throughout his /her academic career except in Matriculation and intermediate examination.
- Additional 20 marks will be given to those who have studied Geography at Master/BS levels.
- BS 4 years Geography degree or minimum of 16 years of education or
- BS 4 years in any of the subjects such as Natural Sciences, Social and Behavioral Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Town/Urban & Regional Planning. Such candidates shall do take deficiency courses as per HEC prescribed guidelines.
- The candidate shall have to pass the departmental subject based written test (DSBWT) and interview.

Significance
The main goal of this project is to provide a new planning tool to the local authorities, which empowers them to handle the challenges of a fast growing city (e.g. challenges regarding population growth, increasing building density, air pollution, water scarcity, etc.). For this the city will be structured in urban structural units which defer from the administrative units of Bahawalpur and display a new representative unit for the planning tool.
To reach this goal different steps have to be taken. First the basic conditions have to be analyzed which includes the Clarifying of socio-economic and planning circumstances and the ecological structures and functions in Bahawalpur. As standard method remote sensing and GIS will be used to support the data acquisition and for the Digitalizing of the data. With the basic conditions it is possible to evaluate the data into an urban structural model and to adapt it to the local conditions. For the validation the application of the urban structural units and an integrative Modelling on representative urban structural units is the main task.
As result, recommendations for the planning authorities will be given in form of a new planning structure for Bahawalpur. The achievements will be written down in a scientific publication and are open for further discussions. Another result will be a digital map of Bahawalpur with its ecological structures.
Tourism is a multimillion enterprise in Murree. Ecotourism plays a vital role in the improvement of socioeconomic conditions of the local community and directly effect on their society and culture. This research is base to determine resident attitudes to the economic, sociocultural, and ecological impacts of tourism development in Murree. Primary data will be collect by the Field survey and questionnaire by a random sampling of the residents of Murree. GPS survey and in-depth interviews will also conduct by the concern department. Secondary data will be collect by the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC), Forest Department, Wildlife Department, WWF, Metrological Department and SPARCO for satellite images. Statistical analysis will apply through SPSS, map making and GIS analysis through ArcGIS and satellite image analysis will be apply through ERDAS. This research will be useful for PTDC, Local Development Authority for planning and decision making.

Significance
The two major themes will be
- Sustainable rural landscapes
- Sustainability in urban areas
National and International Panel Members will include a mix of urban ecologist, agroecologist, economists, etc.
It will address key national challenges for sustainable development in post 2015 period. The outcomes will be highly relevant to the scientific and policy community.
Two outputs of the workshop
- One edited book – 12-15 chapters from the participants.
- Set up new group - Partnership for Sustainable Development in Pakistan.
Workshop will be used to set up “Partnership Launch for Sustainable Development”, in Pakistan. This could be an ongoing program that you can develop and lead so that sustainable development continues in the country – depends on funding but I guess you can manage. You may just start it as a group to create group of like-minded people to engage with policy makers and then leverage for funding. It can have activities like small discussion groups, quarterly seminars, joint papers etc.
Including academics, researchers, students, general public, influential people etc. This can work as Quasi department across many sectors of economy–rural, urban, health, agriculture, industry etc – something which is required for sustainability.
