The Poverty Research Centre

Objectives and Scope

The Poverty Research Center will conduct policy-oriented research focusing on the issues of developing countries and Pakistan in the areas of Poverty, Inequality, Gender, Population, Child Poverty, Health and Education, Food Insecurity, Climate Change, Youth, Geography and Regional Studies. The scope of the PRC is not limited to these core areas; it also covers the sustainable development goals for the inclusive growth of Pakistan. Exclusively the objectives of this Centre includes;  

  • Capacity building initiatives for academicians and professionals.
  • Jointly develop a yearly research agenda with UNICEF, Bristol Poverty Institute, and other bodies.
  • Develop a fellowship program for Postgraduate students working on these core issues
  • Introduce poverty and inequality-related courses and programs in the faculty of social sciences,
  • Develop a student/faculty exchange program with partner organizations like the University of Bristol and other institutions.
  • Research collaborations with national and international research institutions for Joint bids and research projects.  
  • Collaborate with Higher Education Commission, PHEC, and Ministry of Poverty Alleviation & Social Safety for sharing research findings, policy formation and achieving sustainable development goals.  
  • Social engagement and community outreach activities, and Establishment of Knowledge Centre on issues related to poverty
