STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURES (SOPS) FOR THE SAFE RE-OPENING OF THE UNIVERSITY OF GUJRAT FROM SEPTEMBER 15, 2020

Consequent upon the Punjab Higher Education Commission letter # PHEC / Chairman / 2020 /2242 dated August 11, 2020 regarding safe opening of Universities and participation in PM's Campaign for Green and Clean Campus and the directives given by the UOG Academic Council in its meeting held on July 16, 2020.  The Senior Management of the University of Gujrat decided for re-opening the University for Academic Affairs, phase wise from September 15, 2020 in line of the HEC Covid-19 Guidance # 07 given by the Vice Chancellor’s Committee in its’ 31st meeting held on September 01, 2020.  As per HEC policy, University asked the relevant students through emails a choice between face to face and online classes and choices were communicated to the University management. 

PHASE WISE OPENING OF UNIVERSITY

PHASE-I

In the Phase-I all registered Graduate and PhD scholars, Undergraduate students of Final Semesters and researchers (if any) shall be allowed to enter the University from September 15, 2020 as per departmental academic schedule.

PHASE-II

After proper examine of the situation the first semester student’s shall be allowed in Phase-II.

PHASE-III

Reviewing the situation rest of the semesters shall be allowed.

STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURES

The SOPs of Covid-19 regarding physical distancing, wearing of face mask and use of sanitizer shall be ensured during Classes.  University of Gujrat has prepared the following plan to address the issue.

  • University of Gujrat has already conducted Covide-19 tests for its teaching and administrative employees. The blocks used as Quarantine Centre have already been fumigated.
  • Block and floor wise committees have been constituted and Chairman and HoDs are members of these Committees.  The major responsibilities of these committees are to ensure implementation of the SOPs issued by Governments of Punjab and HEC regarding Covid-19 Pandemic in University premises, teaching blocks and classrooms. School of Law has constituted its own committee at GT Road campus to implement SOPs of Covdie-19 on students and canteen as well. Two committees are constituted to ensure implementation of SOPs of Covid-19 in Quid-e-Azam Library and Students Services Center. It is mandatory for students to wear face masks and use sanitizer while coming to University. However University will provide these facilities in case of emergency. 
  • University has displayed Posters, standees and panaflexes on the main entrances of Academic, Administration and Hostel blocks carrying various instructions for students and staff regarding COVID-19.
  • The Canteens and Cafes will provide safe and healthy take away food.  The UOG Committee constituted by University shall ensure availability of food and face masks on control rates and shall also ensure implementation of SOPS of Covid-19 at all food points.
  • Safe and appropriate hostel accommodation will be provided to the boarders.  Take Away food facility will be extended to the boarders, on self-service format during evening time ranging from 6:30 to 8:30. The Hall Council has constituted different committees to keep vigilance regarding implementation of SOPs COVID-19.
  • In order to provide essential mobility services during “COVID-19 Pandemic”, the following guidelines must be observed in true letter and spirit regarding transportation.
  • The commuters must wear a proper face mask and should have a distance of at least four to six feet while boarding UOG buses.
  • The commuters are required to maintain desirable social distance while boarding inside the buses.
  • The commuters shall board the bus from the front entrance and exit from the back if there is a provision of two doors in the bus.
  • The commuters with a fever, constant coughing will not be allowed to board the bus.
  • The buses shall be parked at a minimum distance of 05 meters from on and other at marked locations.

NOTE: ANY VIOLATION OF THESE SOP’S SHALL BE SUBJECT TO DISCIPLINARY ACTION.
