Department of Sociology
The Department
of Sociology at UOG aims at developing among the students a demonstrated
ability to understand structures and functions of social institutions.
It provides an elaborate comprehension of the links between social,
economic, political, cultural and ecological aspects of our everyday
life in a changing global world. The students, therefore, acquire the
skills to develop a greater appreciation and understanding of diverse
worldviews and social practices. In addition, the programme of study
offers the students an extraordinary opportunity to transform the way
they think and act in their social life; acquaints them with basic
sociological concepts and principles; equips them with sociological
research methods and application of computer in sociological research;
enhances their understanding about important social problems at the
national and international level; and enables them to apply sociological
knowledge for analysing various social situations.
