Department Faculty Programmes

 

The School of Law at the University of Gujrat is committed to provide quality legal education in line with advanced foreign universities. The School of Law offers excellent research and learning activities and provides a friendly, lively and civilised atmosphere where students are able to form close working relationship with their teachers. The school emphasises on theoretical study of law via case based study method as well as on clinical study of the practice and procedure developing practical skills based upon the principle of “learning by doing”. The aim is to produce well trained law graduates capable of taking responsibilities at bars and benches, government departments, private sector, international development organisations/agencies and academia.

The School of Law tends to maintain and enhance the University’s general research reputation by providing students on-line access to law journals, world digital libraries and other resources on the web. The library of school is well equipped with journals and law reports, current legal periodicals and a wide collection of reference books. The library houses computers, projectors and other audiovisual devices. The school will soon have its video conferencing facility connecting other institutions in Pakistan and abroad. The school also offers a variety of non academic activities for students to take part in.

In future, the School of Law aims to establish an Institute of Advanced Legal Studies. Research degrees, post-graduate courses and diplomas in different fields of law such as International Human Rights, Islam and Human Rights, International Environmental Law, World Trade Organization, Regulation of Multinational Corporations, Islamic Legal Theories, Telecommunication, Taxation (laws and practice), Media Laws, Feminist Legal Theories, International Criminal Law, Intellectual Property, Law of Armed conflict will be offered.

The School of Law currently offers five-year BA/LLB Programme and it also plans to introduce three-year LLB Programme in the near future. The BA/LLB Programme is aimed at providing the students with a clear dimension to enter into legal profession.
