A Study Tour of Environmental Sciences Students to PLASCO PIPES Industries (Pvt), Gujrat
The Department of Environmental Sciences, Institute of Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICBS), University of Gujrat (UOG) arranged a tour on 28-05-2012 at 9:30 am for the students of 6th Semester to PLASCO PIPES Industries (Pvt) Limited, G.T Road, Bypass, Gujrat to study Environmental Impact Assessment and Pollution Control Techniques. The topics are the part of the curriculum. There were 33 students lead by MS Ayesha Siddiqua (Lecturer Department of Environmental Sciences).
Mr. Ch. Pervaiz Iqbal (Chief Executive Officer), Mr. Zain Pervaiz Tariq (Managing Director) and other staff members welcomed the visitors.
Zain Pervaiz Tariq (Managing Director) gave a brief introduction about PLASCO PVC and its vision, mission and working of industry. The walls clearly display the success stories of PLASCO PVC in their field. He also said the the industry is ISO 9001 and ISO 14000 certification.
The students also visited their administration Block.
Zain Pervaiz Tariq (Managing Director) then took the visitors the Quality Control Lab. The lab has all high quality instruments which assure the quality of their products. On ground practical demonstrations of the instruments were observed by the students.
The lab was well equipped and professionally designed. The Lab engineer was professionally trained. Trainings sessions related to these equipments operation and health and safety are also arranged and conducted by PLASCO PVC for various organizations.
The production unit was also observed and different production processes were studies with special reference to on Environment.
Hospitality of PLASCO PVC was at heights.
There were some environmental problems which were noticed by the students and some useful suggestions were also given by the students. Mr. Zain Pervaiz Tariq (Managing Director) appreciated the suggestions / ideas and promised to implement the suggested solutions in his industry.
The overall working of PLASCO PIPES Industries (Pvt) Gujrat is very much environmentally safe, having no such health and environment related effects. The issue of untreated waste water disposal of the industry needs urgent attention.
The visit to PLASCO PIPES Industries (Pvt) Limited Gujrat was a great experience for all the students; they gained a lot from this tour. The students are thankful to PLASCO PIPES Industries Limited and Department of Environmental Sciences, Institute of Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICBS), University of Gujrat (UOG) for organizing such a wonderful study tour for them.
