Operational Committee of UOG Against Dengue Meets at NSMC

A 24 bed ward has been improvised at Aziz Bhatti Shaheed hospital (ABSH) for immediate admission and treatment of Dengue patients at the first floor in close proximity to the intensive care unit (ICU) of the emergency department. Requisite equipment for diagnosis and treatment has been ensured. 24 emergency packs containing disposables and medicines including glucose and relevant injections are to be kept in reserve in crisis management store for immediate dispensation. These views were expressed by Dr Sajjad Hussainthe focal person operational committee for Eradication of Dengue and the Principal Nawaz Shareef Medical College (NSMC) and of the University of Gujrat (UOG) in its very first meeting at NSMC. The meeting decided to gear up prevention campaign against Dengue on war basis and explore all possible avenues and options for its success.

Immediate cutting of wild grasses in the premises of UOG, its constituent colleges and ABSH spraying medicines, fogging or fumigation to be effected at the earliest. Drainage of stagnant rain water is also to be effected on priority basis forth with.All measures to be taken to keep our premises clean and healthy.

It was decided to trigger up a chain reaction in constituent colleges of our ongoing campaign against dengue to spill over or further make forays into our neighbor-hood. It was decided to hold a ‘Dengue Day’ on September 2 at Kutchery Chowk Gujrat with energetic participation of students by installing special stalls, distributing pamphlets and displaying large sized banners at prominent places. The committee decided to meet a 12:30pm at new block ABSH, on 28th August to develop further momentum in the campaign.
