Rules and Regulations
Membership for Students
UOG students, including those of all the constituent colleges, are eligible to become members of the library after getting admission.
Membership for Staff
UOG staff can avail library facility. They will become members of the library after getting appointment at the University.
Library Discipline
Loss of any library material would be charged with three times of current price or replacement of that material and Rs 100 as processing charges. Damages done to library material (folding, underlining, tearing of pages, etc) would be assessed by the Chief Librarian and his decision will be final. Gossiping, mobile calls, sleeping, eating, drinking, smoking, chatting, combined study and disturbing the order of library furniture are strictly prohibited. Personal books and other than library material (Book Bank’s books, for example) are not allowed in the library.
A fine of Rs 5,000 and current price would be charged in case of stealing library material. The users are requested to collect their return slips and keep them with care because, in case of any ambiguity, it would be the only proof. Mobile phones can be a particular nuisance to quiet study; therefore, the students are required to SWITCH OFF their mobile phones when entering the library. Library membership would be suspended or cancelled along with penalty in the following cases:

Non payment of library fine

Misconduct with library staff

Theft of library material

Any kind of disturbance in library

Non payment of damage fine

Non return of the temporary issued material within due time

Breach of established library rules

Monday to Saturday: 8:00 am to 10:00 pm
Friday Break: 12:30 am to 3:00 pm
Circulation Desk: 9:00 am to 9:00 pm
Reference Desk: 9:00 am to 9:00 pm
Photocopying Service: 10:00 am to 7:00 pm
Online Reference Service: 10:00 am to 5:00 pm
Services and Facilities
Reference Services
We provide a variety of reference services to our users. The Reference Desk is located near the main entrance of the library. The Desk helps users to use the library’s "Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC)" having the list of more than 170,000 volumes comprising printed and electronic information sources. and other information resources.
The person at the Desk will help you in locating the material for your specific assignments. The Desk, therefore, should be your first stop when you need assistance in locating information for your research and class assignments. If you feel anything lacking, please feel free to see the Chief Librarian or register your complain.
Circulation Services
Library materials can be borrowed and returned at the Circulation Desk, which is located near the main entrance. Library materials on reserve, text copies, periodicals, reference books, government publications, publications of world bodies and CD's will not be issued.
Who Can Borrow?
Upon presentation of current and valid ID card at the Circulation Desk, the following people may borrow the issuable materials from the library:

Borrowing Limit
Students: 2 books for 7 days
Permanent Faculty: 10 books for 30 days
Visiting Faculty: 5 books for 30 days
Heads of Departments: 10 books for 30 days
Staff: 1 book for 30 days
Note: The fine for late return will be Rs 5 per day per book.
Library Orientation and Instruction Programme
The Library Orientation and Instruction Programme at UOG extends the role of library in ensuring that users make the most effective use of available resources. The programme is designed to educate the students, researchers, faculty and staff in locating printed and electronic knowledge assets to fulfil their information needs. This service is available on individual and group basis. The programme may be offered at the request of faculty members to their class. At the start of each semester, the library also organises an orientation session for the new students.
