GT Road College for Boys
The GT Road College for Boys, previously known as Govt Science College, is housed in a classically constructed building, which reflects traditional Indo-Arian architecture of the subcontinent. Originally constructed in 1920 as a school, it was opted in 1964 as the Science Block of Govt Zamindar Science College, Gujrat. In 1972, it was made independent and renamed as Govt Zamindar Science College. In 2003, Government Sir Syed College was merged into it and it was renamed as Government College Gujrat. UOG took over its administration in 2004.
In the past, GT Road College for Boys has rendered its services to the students coming from rural and low-income groups. Recently, the facilities at the institution have been upgraded. The College has the capacity to accommodate 1,000 students at the Intermediate level and 400 students at the Graduation level. It also has a huge library containing more than 12,000 books. UOG has introduced new disciplines at the college after making it its constituent college. For example, BS (Hons) 4-year Programme in Computer Science (IT) has been started.
